This year MTV is letting the fans decide who the nominees are for the VMA’s! Voting is now open for the Best Male and Female Video categories. Make sure to go to vma.mtv.com to vote for Ashlee Simpson’s video for “Outta My Head” now! Voting closes Wednesday 7/23 at 11 AM EST. Voting Starts this Friday, July 18th at 5PM PST / 8PM EST!

I am writing in response to recently seeing your video “Outta my head“. I found the content of this video highly offensive. Negative images such as those shown in your video, for example you in a padded room in a straight jacket appearing as if you were possessed, play a large part in causing the misconceptions people have about mental health. I was watching this video with my friend who has a diagnosis of schizophrenia, he found the images hurtful, I feel that you did not take into consideration the damaging affect images like these have. A survey recently conducted by Rethink “Stigma Shout” provides evidence of the damage stigma and discrimination have on the life’s of service users and the role the media can play in shaping the views of society.
I hope this email has highlighted the need for you to take responsibility and in future to think about the impact you can have on peoples life’s. Thank you for taking the time to read this email, I eagerly wait for your response.

Ashlee's pregnancy
Dear Ashlee, I think it is great that everything is going so well for you with your baby. However, I must ask you a favor. I had 2 boys by the time I was 19 yrs old. I am now 42 years old. I have no regrets about having them, they are great young men now. I even have a 3rd. However, it was VERY difficult for me, personally. I don't know how much of what to believe, but the impressions I am getting from the teenagers that I come into contact with is that Jamie Lynn's and your pregnancys have been so glamourized that now the teens I am talking with are actually hoping to get pregnant! You are a role model, and I of all people don't think that age has anything to do with having children. My personal belief is that it depends on your temperment, maturity, finances, and mainly just "are you ready". There are many comments that I have heard (which I know or at least hope aren't true) how "easy" the teenagers (even the boys) believe having a baby and raising the children is. Just for an example, it really doesn't matter your size in preganancy as long as you are healthy. However, when you have your baby due to your success (which wow congratuations, you are so talented) you will be able to afford ( in more ways than just money) to get your body back, take care of the baby, take care of many many things that an "average" teenager can't. Which I know 1st hand from my experience. Will you please, in your on way, (even your husband also as a male) send a reality check that you are an exception?
