I'm really sorry to announce that I'm going to postpone my tour this summer.

My team gave me a few reasons I could use:

1. jury duty (but you can get out of jury duty once)

2. creative differences (but I'm a solo artist so that didn't make sense)

3. not in the mood/have a headache (wait, that was an excuse for Pete! and it didn't work. See next reason)

4. the baby

...and that's where I drew the line.

The truth is I want to put on an amazing show for you the next time I come to your town. I promise I will be back, better than ever and ready to rock out. Until then,

Contestants tape themselves singing a song from the film Undiscovered, and upload it online via www.undiscoveredfilm.com (or mail it in) to enter. Lions Gate Films will then decide the top 10 finalists, who will receive a digital video camcorder prize. Finalists will videotape themselves and their best friends, and submit that video to increase their entry's chances. The top 10 finalists will then be announced on www.undiscoveredfilm.com before the film opens. The world can then vote, discuss and rate their favorite singer to determine the Grand Prize winner. Ashlee’s first Headlining Tour kicks off in Houston, TX February 2 and ends in Norfolk, VA on March 26. The trek is still being routed, with more dates expected to be added soon. Tickets will go on sale in mid-December. See the EVENTS section for all the details.

After working to get out of the shadows and into the spotlight, Ashlee Simpson is going back to a position she's long been comfortable with — a supporting role. The actress/singer starts work this week on her first feature film, the romantic comedy "Wannabe," in which her aspiring-actress character plays second fiddle to another would-be star.

Simpson plays Clea, who is one of a group of struggling entertainers trying to make names for themselves in Los Angeles. She befriends the film's main character, Brier (played by Pell James from "Uptown Girls"), in a highly sought-after acting class. Brier has just moved to L.A. after working in New York as a model. The two team up to help Brier reconnect with Luke (Steven Strait from the upcoming "Sky High"), a struggling singer/songwriter she's crushed on since their time together in New York. Luke has been toiling for years without a record deal, and Brier and Clea decide to create some fake hype to get him noticed. The price of his fame, however, turns out to be more than the would-be lovers and their friends anticipated.

"It's basically about musicians trying to find their way," Simpson said of the project when it was first announced in September. "There's a guy who gets too old to be a musician, and all of us become his fan club."

The film also stars Carrie Fisher as Brier's acerbic agent, Shannyn Sossamon ("40 Days and 40 Nights," "A Knight's Tale"), Fisher Stevens ("Hackers") and Kip Pardue ("Thirteen"). Music video director Meiert Avis — who's worked with U2 and Audioslave and most recently helmed New Found Glory's "All Downhill From Here" clip — will make his return to directing movies, following 1989's "Far From Home." Simpson's father, Joe Simpson, will serve as an executive producer for the project.

I'm sure you all have figured out how crazy its been the last few days,but I just wanted to personally write to y'all-my true fans-and thank you for your support and love. I have decided to speak openly and honestly about what happened on snl because I want you guys to know what really happened. My acid reflux started acting up and I know my real fans know that music and performing is my true passion and you support me for that....I couldn't control what happened that day. People always say things that are hurtful,and I encourage my fans to do what I do and not read what people are saying on the internet...in a couple of days everyone's attention will be on someone else. As far as me and my band are concerned...we are all a family and love each other very much-they are the best guys in the world and I wouldn't want anyone else to be with me at this time.

Keep up the support...its the love my fans have shown me that makes me want to go back out there and continue to prove all the negative press wrong!

Look out for me to go on tour starting in January...its gonna be awesome!

A few words from someone "on the inside"

So here's how it went down...

I am in charge of starting the songs and cueing their
backing tracks (miscellaneous percussion, random sound effects, etc.)
Plain and simple, I cued the wrong song.

During the rehearsals for the SNL performance, we
practiced the songs "Autobiography" and "Pieces of
Me", in that order. For the show itself, we switched
the order. So, even though we had already played
"Pieces" for our FIRST performance (and quite well
from what I'm told), when it came time for the SECOND
song, I started "Pieces" (the second song in
rehearsal) again without thinking twice. I'm sure now
that I will be getting shit about how I'm a bad
musician and whatever. But hey... I made a mistake.
It happens. Any of you who have never made a mistake
in your life, feel free to respond.

Strangely the whole wrong song debaucle seems to be
getting lost amongst the speculation that Ashlee was lip-synching.
SHE WAS NOT!!! I was there. Ashlee was having problems with her voice/throat
that
day. A couple hours before playing SNL... Your voice is almost
gone...
What do you do? A lot of performers may have gone the lip-synching
route.
But Ash trucked on through, singing her own songs, but with a backing
vocal
track for reinforcement. She did not "FAKE" anything. If you listen
to the
first performance, you can make out two voices. Hers, and that of the
backing track. No, this is not something that she usually does. In
fact,
this is something that she NEVER does. But this was somewhat of an
emergency.

We all laugh about it now. Ash is taking it really
well. And I of course am getting (probably LESS than)
my fair share of jokes from the band about it.
"Mother, sister, father, sister, drummer, everything's
cool now". We've all let it go. So should everybody
else.

There are so many rumors flying around started by
people who have no clue, and nothing better to do than
rip on an innocent performer simply because they don't
like her music. It's ridiculous. You people need to
grow up.

In conclusion, I'd like to say that I DO agree with
you guys on one point. Ashlee should NOT have blamed
her band for what happened. Honestly, she should've
blamed me, her drummer. It sucks to say, but it's
true. I hope that this message clears things up for everyone.

Marking yet another chapter in the year’s most amazing musical success story, Geffen recording artist Ashlee Simpson has debuted #1 for the week ending July 25, 2004 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart selling over 398,000 copies of her newly-released CD “Autobiography.” This comes on the heels of her Top 10 smash single Pieces of Me which continues to climb the Top 40 charts.

Said Ashlee, “This is beyond my wildest dreams. I’m so excited for what’s happened and what’s to come. I am so thankful for everyone’s support.”

Added manager Joe Simpson, “A father’s dream is seeing his daugher’s dream come true, and it happened this week.” Commented Ashlee’s mother, Tina Simpson, “It is overwhelming. I am so proud of her and we are all so blessed. She is making her own shadows now. It took a lot for Ashlee to make this record and step outside of expectations.”

Even before the release of Autobiography last week, Ashlee was becoming a household name with her highly rated MTV reality series “The Ashlee Simpson Show.” The new album has already received retails orders topping a million units! It’s the #1 album on iTunes, the single is the #1 track on AOL Music and the video is #3 on Yahoo!/Launch, and in the top ten at TRL.

MTV’s The Ashlee Simspon Show grows in ratings each week, and has been seen by over 50 million viewers. The show was the #1 highest rated show on cable TV last week with a 3.5 rating. From July 13 – 20, Ashlee’s Autobiography was featured on The Leak, an exclusive full album stream on MTV.com. There were over 2.66 million requested streams, surpassing the top ranked Britney Spears “In The Zone” to se a new record for Leak streams.

Produced by John Shanks (Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Alanis Morrissette), “Autobiography” was entirely co-written by Ashlee. The 19-year-old Waco, TX, born singer/actress is already well known for her recurring role as Cecilia on the WB’s hit series Seventh Heaven.
